Wow that's a 180 degree turn.
No, not really. They're only saying this for business territory.
"so that we will not be confused with salesmen, it is best not to mention the donation arrangement unless we are asked how our work is financed.".
this damning quote is found on page 1 of the september 2015 our kingdom ministry, the last sentence in the 3rd bullet point under the sub-heading how to do it.
this quote amounts to an implicit admission that the jw practice of mentioning the donation arrangement to householders at the door, makes them look like door to door salesmen.. why would "jehovah's organization" be engaging in a practice that is nothing more than a transparent attempt at undercover soliciting?

just on of the perks of being an apostate who is married to a branwashed, blinded jw woman.
you know, we have been married for ~27 years....most of which we had nothing to do with the piece of shite cult.
up till the begining of 2014 was when i woke up.

You know, in the old days an invading force would get a battened down fortified city to surrender by starving the inhabitants into surrendering. They would surround the city to ensure that no outside food can enter. Things get so desperate that eventually the inhabitants start eating each other and the soldiers get too weak to fight. Then they surrender or the invading force thinks they're weak enough to launch a successful attack with little or no resistance.
Now if your wife is starving you sexually, maybe it's a similar tactic. Maybe she's hopeful that by starving you it will cause you to find some "food" elsewhere and when you do so, BAM! "I want a divorce!". She has gotten herself scripturally out of a marriage with an apostate and is free to marry an upstanding elder or ministerial servant.

I think this is specific to "Business Territory" because the part is titled
Improving Our Skills in the Ministry—Witnessing in Business Territory
True. But if mentioning the donation arrangement makes them sound like salesmen in the business territory then wouldn't it also make them sound like door to door salesmen in door to door territory? Why would true christians out to preach the good news be engaged in any tactics that cause them to be confused for salesmen? How is it that their normal tactics do not result in a clear enough distinction between one serving Jehovah and one who is a salesman?

Why would "Jehovah's Organization" be engaging in a practice that is nothing more than a transparent attempt at undercover soliciting? Why are they engaging in a practice that they know full well makes them look like door to door salesmen - especially in light of what 2 Corinthians 2:17 saying:
...we are not peddlers of the word of God as many men are...
When a JW goes out of his way to mention the voluntary donation arrangement just at the point that the householder accepts the literature, and thus serving as a means of subtly soliciting money from the householder, can he honestly say that he is not peddling Watchtower literature?

according to the scriptures, jehovah makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.
- matthew 5:45. in that case, if we look at the account in genesis, god is shown to give pharaoh a dream that he will cause seven years of famine.. genesis 41: pharaohs dreams.
25 then joseph said to pharaoh, the dreams of pharaoh are one and the same.
According to the bible he does. But according to Watchtower spin he does not micromanage the weather but has put natural laws and cycles in motion from which weather events emerge. They say that texts that speak of God doing things don't really mean he literally does them - just that he permits them to happen. So he doesn't make the rain fall on the wicked and the righteous like the bible actually says, no, he merely permits the rain to fall on the righteous and wicked alike.
In Watchowerland the bible does not always mean what it says. It always means what Watchtower says.
there were so many things wrong with this weeks watchtower, its hard to pick one, but one that really bothered me was this watchtower business and their delivery.
i have never seen them quite have to explain something away like this in a study article like this before.
shows me they are battling people feeling confused.
The way they dance around the world rapture is very reminiscent of the way they dance around the word creationist. The truth is they do believe in the rapture. See the definition of the word.
synonyms: | ecstasy, bliss, exaltation, euphoria, elation, joy, enchantment, delight, happiness, pleasure "she gazed at him in rapture" |
There is nothing about the word rapture that says christians must ascend with their body of flesh. In fact some hollywood portrayals of the rapture show the clothes of the raptured being left behind, suggesting that their physical bodies dematerialized and that they thus went to heaven as spirits.
I suspect the real reason they refuse to use the word rapture, is pride. For too long they have been condemning christendom's rapture teaching as being false so for them to come now and use the word rapture would involve them having to eat humble pie and admit that christendom was right. They can't stomach that so they find some meaningless technicality as an excuse not to humble themselves and use the very word they once shunned.
It's the same dishonest tactic they use to deny the fact that they're Creationists. Just because some Creationists believe in a young earth, they use that as an argument to deny that JWs are Creationists - as if all Creationists believe in a young earth. Here too, the real reason they deny that they are Creationists is pride. Creationism in all its forms - not just young earth Creationism - has been so thoroughly debunked and ridiculed that they are disowning the label. Rather than proudly being ridiculed for the truth of who they are they rather pretend that they're something else.
watchtower says that evil and suffering exist at present to vindicate jehovah as being the only one qualified to govern; to bear witness to man's inability to govern himself independent of god and under satan's direction.
the claim is made that the questions raised by satan regarding god's motives as universal sovereign can only be answered by allowing humans to see the evil and suffering that results when man lives independent of god's protection and direction.. watchtower and jws seem to think that this is the best theodicy in the world.
but there are some serious flaws in it.. 1. such a theodicy suggests that all perfect and intelligent creation, up until the advent of adam and eve, did not know god and his ways well enough to be confident that his motives as universal sovereign are pure.
It always got me that after all this suffering and woe... After mankind Finally understands and can see how much we need god to rule over everything for us... Once the point is made for all time, never to be questioned by mankind again...
"The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind."
It will all be for nothing - because nobody remembers the lesson learned. Well played Yahweh, well played.
That's another very good point I forgot to mention.
i just noticed in the bible that on day three, god created the plants and trees on the earth.... day four, god created the sun, moon and stars!
so that means that the vegetation that is by its very nature dependant upon light to grow and photosynthesise was created a day before the sun that it needs to live!???.
this gets even more strange when you factor in the jw exhuse that a day to god is like a thousand years.

Watchtower and JWs seem to think that this is the best theodicy in the world. But there are some serious flaws in it.
1. Such a theodicy suggests that all perfect and intelligent creation, up until the advent of Adam and Eve, did not know God and his ways well enough to be confident that his motives as universal sovereign are pure. How long have the angels been in existence? Man was created 6040 years ago, according to JWs. The universe is over 13 billion years old according to scientists and this age is not disputed by Watchtower. Since Watchtower teaches that the angels were made before the universe, then it means that God had more than 13 billion years to reveal his heart and motives to his perfect intelligent creation yet failed to do so well enough as to avert any questioning of his motives and the rightfulness of his sovereignty when Satan rebelled. This in and of itself is an indictment of God's way of ruling. Furthermore, are the angels too dumb to figure out that the one who created them and universe must be far more knowledgeable than they are and thus the one most qualified to govern, without first having to see humans suffer when God is removed from driver's seat?
2. If we ignore the folly of 1. then there's the problem of mankind and satan not being given a fair opportunity to make their case. Up until Adam and Eve's disobedience, God was governing perfect beings. So the question of sovereignty is really a question of whether or not perfect intelligent beings can successfully govern themselves independent of God. However, upon their disobedience, Adam and Eve were cursed by God with imperfection that leads to death. Thus mankind is deprived of the perfect mind and long life required to transparently and adequately make his case. Furthermore, the book of Genesis records God further thwarting man's effort to make his case by confusing human language at Babel. God is actually on record as saying that he has to do this because nothing would be impossible for man to achieve if he allows them to continue their efforts unitedly. It doesn't get any more damning that this. The bible shows that God is not playing fair - that God is not giving mankind a fair opportunity to prove that they can govern themselves independent of him, contrary to Watchotwer's claim.
3. The claim is made by Watchtower, that if God secretly stepped in to avert disasters and suffering whenever they are about to occur, then that will give the false impression that satan and mankind are able to govern independent of God without problems arising. But why would God's stepping in have to be done secretly? What if he stepped in publicly during a disaster, to save lives and prevent suffering, and to expose to the public how mankind's way of ruling led to the disaster? That would have the effect of still showing that mankind cannot successfully govern himself independent of God, while at the same time proving that he is a loving and caring God who does not want people to die and suffer needlessly - that he does not see humans as expendable pawns in his quest to prove satan a liar; that he is willing to forego enjoying the greater propaganda victory that comes from mankind's failures causing death and suffering, out of love for humans.
